Can you help me move my pet?

Can you move my car?

Yes. In this specialized service, we can either load your vehicle in a container exclusively, combine it with your household goods, or use a roll on/roll off service where your car is driven onto a vessel by the carrier and transported to your new destination via ocean freight.

Are there limitations to what I can bring to the country that I am moving to?

Depending on your residency status at the destination country, the limitations can vary. Our team is well-versed in individual country requirements. Each country has specific rules, and we can advise you of your entitlements during our initial conversation with you.

How long will it take for my belongings to arrive to my new home?

Delivery timing is dependent upon on the destination. Typically, an international ocean shipment can take around 5-9 weeks, whereas air shipments typically experience shorter transit times of around 1-3 weeks.

Do I need to worry about customs?

The customs clearance process is an important piece of your relocation. Each country has different rules and regulations, and your individual residency status will influence how we help with your relocation.  Our team will guide you through the process to ensure a smooth transition.

Hiring a mover for an international move sounds expensive. Can I afford it?

We recognize that moving can be costly. We research the most economical methods of transportation to ensure that we are giving you the best pricing available.  While we may not always be the cheapest option, our value comes with proactive planning, market research, and pricing analysis to minimize charges and fees. Our goal is to give you the most transparent information and pricing possible so that you can make an informed decision.

Can I do my own packing?

Because international household goods moves go through additional customs checks at origin and destination, we recommend that you do not do your own packing.  Any shipment marked as “Pack by Owner (PBO)”, will have an increased likelihood of being flagged by customs authorities for additional inspections.  This often results in port delays and additional costs to you.  When Planes Global Moving Services performs your move, we inspect pre-packed boxes and pack your remaining items, reducing the possibility of additional inspections and cost.  In addition, by professionally packing your belongings, we can then offer you full protection transit coverage for the duration of your move, giving you complete peace of mind.

How will my belongings be moved?

Depending on your move size, needs at origin and destination, and any time constraints you may have, we provide ocean transportation in exclusive containers (full container loads), lift vans (less than container loads using reinforced wooden crates), or by airfreight in dedicated air crates.

Who can I contact if I have a question?

Your international move consultant is available to answer any questions you may have. Once you have made the decision to move with us, your dedicated move consultant will be available as and when needed.

Do you offer transit coverage? Is it covered in the quote that you gave me?

We recommend transit coverage to give you complete protection while your goods are en route.  Containers and lift vans travel a great distance to your new home, and this coverage will protect your belongings while they are in transit.  The pricing of coverage varies, dependent upon the value of your goods. We will discuss options with you during your consultation and in your written estimate.

I don’t want to take everything with me. Can I put some of my belongings in storage?

Of course!  We are happy to store your items at a location convenient to you. Need something from storage shipped to your new home? Good news: when you store your belongings with us, we can coordinate that process for you.

How far in advance of my move date should I start planning?

No time is too early. The earlier you can choose your moving company and select a move date, the better position you will be in. It easier to change a date if your plans change rather than schedule a move a few days prior. This is especially important during the peak summer months. With International moves requiring more panning than domestic move, and due to the time-sensitive nature of documentation needed, early planning can ensure a smoother, less stressful experience for you and your family.

How do I pay?

We accept all major credit cards, ACH, bankers’ checks, and wire transfers.

What are port fees and terminal handling charges?

Port fees typically arise at destination.  These fees are issued by the local port of arrival to cover the offloading of your shipment from the vessel/airplane and handover to us before customs clearing and delivery. Be sure to ask all companies you are considering what those fees are, and if they are included in the quote you are given.  Make sure this information is in writing!

Can I change a scheduled moving date if my home closing date changes?

We are happy to work with you to accommodate any changes in your plans. We recommend scheduling your move date as early as possible to give yourself a little bit more flexibility.  Being organized and prepared is the best way!

Do you offer a shared shipment transportation method?

No. We believe that dedicated/exclusive shipments are safer, experience less handling (thus reducing the possibility of damage or misplaced items), and have faster transit times with fewer delays.

What if Planes is more expensive than other companies I have researched?

Let us know!  While we appreciate that price is an important factor in choosing your moving company, we recommend not buying on price alone. There are often reasons why moving companies have lower prices, and we are happy to discuss pricing to see if alternative methods of transportation are available, or adjustments to your move’s weight/volume can be made to reduce your cost to fit your budget.
